This program will allow you to acquire the skills and knowledge needed to give care to people of all ages in terms of hygiene, welfare, nutrition, movement and security, whether in the comfort of their homes or in a residence. You will find employment as a visiting homemaker, family or social aide.

Program Objectives

Enable the students to acquire the knowledge and skills required to:
  • Provide care and assistance services related to health problems, physical or intellectual impairments, or family hardships;
  • Help house-bound people become more autonomous so as to prevent their personal and family life from deteriorating.

Skills to be acquired

Enable the students to acquire the knowledge and skills required to:
  • Apply individualized intervention plans
  • Develop a trusting relationship with patients
  • Provide care relative to hygiene
  • Provide basic health care
  • Perform daily housekeeping tasks
  • Prepare and serve meals

Admission requirements

  • Persons holding a Secondary School Diploma or its recognized equivalent ; OR
  • Persons who are at least 16 years of age on September 30 of the school year in which their training is to begin and have earned the Secondary III credits in language of instruction, second language and mathematics in the programs of study established by the Minister, or have been granted recognition of equivalent learning ; OR
  • Persons who are at least 18 years of age upon entry into the program and have the following functional prerequisites: the successful completion of the general development test and specific prerequisites in the language of instruction or
    recognition of acquired equivalent competencies.
